When the White King unified all of Antar under his rule, he promised peace, prosperity and an end to the constant civil strife which had plagued the northern land for centuries. Instead, he used the people and riches of his newly unified kingdom to forge his realm into a great war machine to engage in wars of aggression against his neighbours. To this end, no means was too heinous, no atrocity too grave and no oppression too severe. Twenty years he has reigned; turmoil piles upon turmoil, calamity upon calamity and still the White King sits upon his silver throne, having forsaken his people for vengeance, ambition and dreams of glory. Dissidents are shot in the streets, estates are looted to fuel Antar’s new army and the sky is clogged with smoke from the massed factories of war.
But even as Antar suffers, the old proverb rings true: every flame casts a shadow.
The fires of the White King’s ambition do not burn unopposed. His tyranny has not gone unnoticed. A resistance has begun to form. They come from all walks of life; petty criminals, ideologues, workers, peasants, nobles of the old order and everyone else in between. They fight their own war against the White King, striking out at the stores of ammunition and weaponry that fuel the royal army of conquest and oppression. Without supplies, the royal armies are nothing, without the armies, the White King is nothing. It is this rag-tag secret organization which stands alone between the White King and his mad dreams of eternal conquest. It is they who keep alive the fever dream of a free Antar.
They are the the men of the Shadow Regiment…
…and now, so are you.
